Nautilus Command Center Director

Position Overview

 

The NCC Director will manage a team of 7 to 10 NCC Engineers and Administrators responsible for maintaining a 100% uptime for Nautilus Data Technologies data center infrastructure. The NCC and inaugural data center will be located in Stockton, CA. The NCC, led by the Director, will be responsible for monitoring, configuring and supporting all of Nautilus Data Technologies’global infrastructure. The NCC Director will report to the Chief Technology Officer.

 

The NCC Director will be the escalation point for customer and vendor break/fix issues, with ultimate responsibility for incident tracking, resolution and reporting.  The NCC Director will serve as the primary interface with other departments on projects, initiatives and programs requiring NCC resources, and will be responsible for successful project delivery. The position will assist in capacity planning and vendor management, and in addition to managing the NCC team will have hands-on tactical responsibilities.The NCC Director will be responsible for continuous platform improvements through introduction of technologies that achieve a positive ROI and/or an improvement to the customer experience.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Maintain 100% up time of Nautilus Data Technologies production and production supporting infrastructure.

  • Identify, scope and implement NCC trouble ticketing system.

  • Responsible for incident management and issue resolution processes, including establishment of monitoring and management of alerts, escalations, and notifications.

  • Ensure reporting accuracy and integrity of Nautilus Data Technologies Data Center Infrastructure Management (“DCIM”) software.

  • Manage and maintain end-to-end fixed assets (servers, network devices, telecom devices, storage, licenses, etc.).•Develop, document, and implement operating policies, methods, processes, measures, tools, and training programs.

  • Manage Nautilus Command Center annual capital and expense budgets.

  • Develop and perform capacity planning for backup assets, power, network bandwidth, circuits, etc.

  • Implement and enforce change management process as required.

  • Define, advocate and enforce adherence to compliances (ISO 27001, NIST, SOC 1&2, PCI and HIPPA), as well as technological architectural designs and standards.

  • Collaborate with Business Development, Sales and Product departments to plan, coordinate, estimate and manage initiatives and projects.

  • Responsible for all problem resolution and tracking of events using ticketing system.

  • Lead root cause analysis by, and continuous improvement efforts of, the NCC team. 

  • Lead the NCC team ensuring stellar service reliability, availability, compliance with customer Service Level Agreements (SLA), preventive maintenance requirements, and readiness of network components.

  • Ensure that operation management policies, standards and procedures are properly implemented, enhanced, and maintained; including training, incident reporting and resolution, issue management, metrics collection, performance reporting, trend analysis, and Continuity of Operations (COOP).

Requirements and Experience

 

  • 10+ years managing mission critical infrastructure operations. 5+ years in a Director or Senior Manager role•10+ years in customer supporting/facing data center, co location and/or cloud operations environment

  • Strong working knowledge of Unix(RHEL, Centos, et. al.)

  • Strong working knowledge of Networking (TCP, Routing, Switching Firewalls, ACLs)

  • Data center power management and capacity planning

  • Networking/Telecom vendor management experience

  • Extensive experience in Project Management, Incident Management, Change Management and Disaster Recovery

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to effectively translate and communicate complex technical information and risks to all levels of internal/external customers

  • Operate with sense of urgency commensurate with a mission critical environment (fix it first mentality)

  • Strong, senior level manager, with excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required(preference towards EE or CS); Master’s Degree preferred
